The Importance Of Conflict Resolution In Health Care

Conflict resolution is an important area to hone especially when dealing with the general public. As health care workers, dealing with the public is something we literally do every day and it isn’t uncommon for our patients to not have a firm understanding of what we do, or are supposed to be doing for them. This is a perfect storm for conflict to brew in. Patients assume and expect certain things, sometimes unreasonable things, and it is our job to be able to deal with these issues and to resolve them effectively.

When I took this assessment I scored highest on Collaborating with Compromising a very close second (1 point). My lowest score was on Avoiding. According to Waite & McKinney (2014) a Collaborating style is assertive and cooperative,
