Leadership is changing from being one person who gives out instructions because of their mental intelligence to a group of people who work together to achieve a certain goal. This term is described as collective leadership. It is understood as individuals having or sharing the same traits, characteristics and behaving in a certain way that is common in all of them. The focus of collective leadership is the interaction of the team members to lead the team by sharing in leadership responsibilities (Hiller, 2006:388). This motivates the team to work harder because if a certain goal is achieved it reflects all of them. The different group members also bring different identities and experience therefore will specialize on different fields for the benefit of the organization. The work is discussed amongst the group members and if there is a contradiction among members about certain decision they can vote and majority will rule. If one leader of the organization is absent from work the organization will not fall apart because it is run by a lot of people who know how to carry out everyday tasks. Network influences relationship, but because nowadays people want to work with people they can trust, this can only be achieved through informal relations. When one person has to look after a lot of consumers to take care of, they might eventually make some feel unimportant as the leader tries to give every consumer the attention they need (as some people feel important when only dealing with the person in charge). If this happens they are likely to take their business elsewhere, where they feel their presence will be appreciated.
