As a collaborator, my strengths were that I made sure that everything got done on time and that it was done right. My weaknesses were that I didn’t really talk to my group as much as I should have and I kind of didn’t put responsibility on anyone but myself. Group work requires talking to others, otherwise you’ll just pull all of the weight and the other group members will get a free ride. Honestly, I feel comfortable controlling the whole process of group work and have people just follow what I say so I know that things are getting done right. This is probably not good, but I don’t feel like I can trust groups because a lot of the time people don’t do what they’re supposed to.…

Also, working in the group project was really good because, you won’t be the only one doing all the works and you can also share your thoughts and idea about the project. From this group speech project I have learned many great things such as always listen to your peers, don’t ignore your peers thoughts and ideas which will let them down, always talk about the problems within the group etc. From the video session we pretty much worked in our outline through out session where we discussed introduction, main points, and conclusion. The communication in that video session was great we all were sharing our thoughts about the speech and were discussing how do we want to approach it. In this video session we had both verbal and nonverbal communications because, for the some part we just research on our own topic and for the most part we discussed about the outline.…

Presenting information in front of an audience has never been my strong suit, but working with others towards a common goal has always been fairly easy to me. Although I consider working with other people fairly easy it doesn’t mean that there are no complications when trying to obtain our goal. Working in groups is something that I am familiar with, whether it is an academic group or an athletic team. According to the book Communicating in Groups Applications and Skills, the authors Katherine Adams and Gloria Galanes states that, “A group is three or more individuals who have a common purpose, interact with each other, influence each other and are interdependent” (Adams & Galanes, 2006). Almost all the groups I have participated in have presented…

At this point more group members will begin to share their ideas and push creative boundaries. Conflicts will arise, particularly between the group’s more assertive members. Differing work styles will cause frustration and tension between staff (Mind Tools, n.d.). Those that don’t agree with the goals set out might resist taking on jobs and do a mediocre job of the tasks they do complete, resulting in an imbalance of workloads and at times a below average end product. The leader should establish group processes, support and listen to all team member contributions, assist in resolving conflicts quickly, show a positive outlook and vision to motivate the team to achieve objectives set out in stage one, and help the team to understand the strengths of different working…
