First, we film our opponent so that we can get a feel for what our competitor likes to do. Then, as coaches, we brainstorm ideas for ways that we can take on the opposing team. Coaches win and love games so positive groupthink is a massive part of what we need to do in order to have decisive decision making. Especially when it comes to how we plan, what plays we need to run, how we need to prepare our guys for the opposing team, and what sort of mindset we need to relay to the team for this upcoming game. The next step is practice. We have certain roles on our team. The roles could easily be described as positions on the floor. But to go more in depth, there are additude roles that also play a hefty role on our team. We have a team full of encouragers which is tremendous because there is never a time when a kid makes a bad play, and someone does not encourage them to do better next play. It makes coaching a whole lot easier. We also have two great leaders on our team that are always doing the right thing and leading by example. When on the floor for practice, it is vital that our boys are communicating so the cohesion between players is always there and so support is never questioned. One thing that is very important to having a successful group is having roles. Beyond just having roles, it is critical that the members completely know their roles and stay within their role. Another point in succeeding in group work is passion. You need to be passionate about whatever your job may be in the group, or else it will clearly show. If you are not happy about your role, and aren’t passionate, FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT. Groups do not last forever so try to be as positive and hardworking as you can while you’re in it.
