The way that I learn today has evolved over the course of my education. My experiences, culture, and context have all affected this change. The school I attended was small, my grade had around 50 students each year. This was normal to me, I had never heard of schools with 300 students per grade until I was much older. When I began school, in kindergarten, everything, from my classmates to having a specific schedule to follow, was new to me. I was enrolled in an every other day kindergarten program, this gradual introduction to school set the stage for what was to come in the years to come at Menahga Public School. As I think back on my early elementary days, school to me was an exciting adventure. Everyday I’d arrive eager to see what we would be doing that day. When I look back at the teachers I had, the ones that stick out to me were the ones that made school exciting, the ones who let us learn with hands-on activities. In those days, and today, I learned best through visual, and hands-on learning. As I got older, in junior high, I would still prefer to learn through visual aids, but because this was less common than in elementary, I would still learn the material if it was taught through lectures and note taking. In high school, school to me was still a place where I would go to learn, but it was now also a place where I would go to socialize. In 10th grade I made the decision to advance my learning through PSEO.
