Despite the issues some people may face when they begin looking for new friends in college, once a student finds a good friend, it is important to make time for them. Good friends can encourage and motivate each other to study harder and finish work for their classes. For example, many people in college help each other with homework in college to get it done faster, while also spending time together to strengthen their relationship. In the book, Nathan says while studying for a French midterm with her friend named Ray, “Forget that, she said it’s not on the test.” Ray responded by saying, “Is that the only reasons you are learning this…Don’t you want to speak French better? Come on, do it.” Ray encourage her to learn the information to become a better student, as all good friends would do. However, some students work together when they possibly shouldn’t, which some may consider cheating. In an interview with students, Rebekah Nathan inquired, “When is it okay to cheat?” More than half of the students replied that it was acceptable in their opinion to cheat in some way or another. For example, working together on homework, filling out an absence slip for a friend, or cheating on work that is not relevant to the class or their major. Her book also helps to inform students that professors are only humans too and talking to them helps. Although she could not fully use stories, words, or names that she heard as a full-time student at AnyU, she made it easier for people to be less ignorant about college life pertaining not only to students but to teachers as well.
