There have been so many innovations, just in the past ten years, from laptops to tablets, from cell phone to smart phone. Even education is throwing their hat back in the ring, going from on-line courses to Massive Open On-line Courses or “MOOCs”as they have become known. This newest idea in educating is looking to make courses available to as many people as possible around the world. Like every innovation or new idea, there is much to work thru from the initial concept to a final product and there is no shortage of people talking about MOOCs and their future impact to education. Thomas Friedman and Karen Head are two of that sea of many. Mr Friedman, once a White House correspondent and now a columnist for the “New York Times” is a strong advocate for the use and potential of the MOOC. And just as impressive Karen Head an assistant professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Literature, Media, and Communication, who has taken up the challenge of building and teaching an MOOC. We are going to look at the differences Friedman and Head have on the topic of MOOCs and how similarly they see it 's future.
