Throughout this professional experience, I feel I have made several discovers as well as affirmations about who I want to be as a teacher with my own class.

One of the biggest and I think most relevant discovers I have been fortunate to make is, how important technology is in teaching the current and future generation of students. As children are growing into digital natives, it is essential for teachers to retrain and adjust their teaching style in order to meet their learners’ needs. During this professional experience, I have had the privileged of having the ICT coordinator of my school as one of my teachers. Because of this, I have been exposed to so many ways to incorporate technology in my lessons as well as, learn about new software’s and I Pads apps I didn’t even know existed. The knowledge and experience I have gained in regards to ICTS in the classroom is a priceless experience that I will be able to take with me throughout my future practicums and latter teaching career.

Once I had read about this, I was able to connect what I had read to what I have been experiencing during my time at Loreto. My discovery is, how important it is to be placed at a school with a positive teacher culture receptive to Practicum students. Throughout this practicum, I haven’t felt like the teachers have been warm and receptive to the presence of myself and the other practicum student. This has been affirmed in many instances throughout the practicum both with my class teachers and my interaction with other teachers within the school. This discovery for me has reaffirmed the importance of placing prac students at a school with teachers who are open and warm to people trying to learn. I unfortunately don’t feel that this was evident at my school thus, causing a huge negative cloud and emotional strain for myself over the past 7
