Teaching Assistant Application
Design is powerful, creative and often surprising. As a teaching assistant, I would like to have an interactive classroom, whether that interaction is between lecturer and the students, or between the students themselves. I believe that lecturing should not be a one-way communication system.
As a graduate student, I think it is more important that the students are constantly a part of the process of their own learning. For the construction courses, if I have a chance to become a teaching assistant, I hope to interact with students as much as possible as a part of process to draw the power of design. I have wanted to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant since I was in 7th grade. The school I went to housed all of the special needs children for the county. I grew up with these children in my classes and always wanted them to know that just because they have the label special needs does not mean that they are different from anybody else. I watched an OTA come to school everyday and work with these children to help them write better and kick a ball so they could go to P.E. with us. I thought to myself what an amazing job opportunity this would be to let people know that they can do anything they set their mind to.…

Thinking of the most rewarding experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant was a very hard decision to make. Every day I come into work the residents help brighten my day. Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

My gut sank to an unbearable low as I watched my thirty-two-year-old mother require support to limp just five steps to the restroom; cancer stripped her of life. At twelve-years-old, I felt distraught in my inability to save her and return the endless love that my Haitian parents poured into my nurturing. However, the hope the physicians brought us has inspired me to become a doctor so that I, too, can serve as an envoy of hope to sufferers of illness. My father is a physician I strive to be like. Every patient always has a smile on their face after seeing him because he does not only treat diseases: he treats people.…

There are many career fields that involve children, but I always like the thought of becoming a teacher for younger students. Children have bigger imagination than adults do. They always get fascinated about anything new that they’ve learned. An elementary school teacher is someone who instructs children from grades first to fourth. I want to become someone who will teach younger students things that they begin to learn at that age.…

One of the things that I think I would add to create an interactive environment to the learners is to give to the student one magazine and look for a picture. After the student finds the appropriate and most interesting picture, they are going to create a couple of questions using ser and estar. After the student finishes with the question, the student is going to interact with the rest of the class, and ask the questions to different students. To make sure they are doing the assignment appropriately, each student that provides an answer is going put their name on one side of the question. By this I would create an interesting and interactive environment to the classroom, at the same time, the questions and the answer would not be…
