A medical assistant is allied health professional that assists the work of physicians and other health professionals to treat patients from senior citizens to newborn. A medical assistant is required to have special education training for various skills to be performed in ambulatory care settings. A medical assistant have to be physically and emotionally fit in order to perform the job efficiently. They must know how to perform verbal and nonverbal communication skills. They have be a good with the people. A medical assistant spent most of the time with patients and staff; so they have to be able to maintain good relationships with them. As a medical assistant they must be helpful to doctors, nurses and the patient who are concern about their diagnoses. A medical assistant must have positive attitudes and smile on face for the patient. A medical assistant should not use hard medical terminology so that patients do not have hard time to understand the conversations. In communication with patient a medical assistant should be honest with patient while maintaining profenslism. In non verbal communication a medical assistants must watch how the patient body language is, how they acting, how they are speaking, and facial expressions. Least education can be accepted for a medical assistant is a high school diploma. A medical assistant can choose to do only administrative duties part of the job or clinical duties. It mostly depends on medical care offices or small clinics to required to do both administrative and clinical skills. If the medical assistant does not have higher the education they can do on the job training. They can learn from physicians or other medical staff. To become well-trained clinical and administration skills, you should attend colleges, universities, or training programs. In most states for medical assistant do not required certification. If a medical assistant wants to have a successful career job for more opportunity and more earning, they should be the certified medical assistant. The American association of medical assistants says that they should have the two-year associate degree and they must take the examination to get certification of Certified Medical Assistant.
