Superman's Weaknesses Analysis

Improved Essays
Everyone has their weaknesses; Superman’s weakness was kryptonite, Akele’s was his heel, and the Wicked Witch of the West’s was water. Since I am part of “everyone” I have weaknesses, too. The key is creating goals to turning my weaknesses into strengths. Out of all the goals I could have come up with, three seem to be the best. One goal I have for this year is to write my paragraphs as fluently as possible. I’ve noticed some of my paragraphs have more words than needed; in order to reach my goal, I need to read through my paragraphs and alter--or even get rid of--words. Convention errors and run on sentence affect fluency. Shorter sentences may help the fluency of my paragraphs. Another intention I have for my writing is to increase my vocabulary.

There is always some aspect of your writing that can be improved. That is why the point that I am focusing on extremely hard is using sensory detail to be thorough in my writing. Sensory detail is the way to project your ideas from your mind onto the paper. That is why it is important for me to build my writing skills to become more adept at translating my mind onto the paper, because the words that I put on paper act as a bridge into a fathomless world that is full of unopened chests that each have a special characteristic. Inside those chests lies the insight that is learned through both beneficial and malign experiences.…

Growing up with catholic education, I was primarily taught the importance of reading and writing. The generic hamburger 5-paragraph essay format was on our 10 commandments of writing and so was the idea of a minimum 6-8 sentences per paragraph. Entering high school English class, I found myself in a different situation than most typical high school students. My school offered International Baccalaureate English classes; these classes were structured differently than that of AP or Standard English. In this class, we were left to fend on our own.…

In the beginning of the semester I was very unsure on how I would appeal in writing, I’ve always been very cynical of my writing because I never thought it was good enough for a college standard. Insanely nervous about entering with writing, it was not as terrifying as I sought it to be. The writing was very straight forward- choose a topic and to stay relative to that topic throughout the semester. Since the topic I chose was very dear to me and I actually did have passionate it about, it made it much easier for me to form bond around it. Like stated before, I took on challenges to test myself to even more extents by using styles that I weren’t so confident on using before.…

I have always believed myself to be a strong writer, but also I know that I do make mistakes in my writings that could truly be fixed easily. My weaknesses and mistakes can be easily pointed out, and most of them are really simple to the point that if I did put my mind to it, that I could really fix them without problem. One of my major weaknesses that I noticed not only in the writings but also just over the course of the semester in general, is that I tend to rush myself with my writings and with this stupid mistakes were made. Whether it is really something as simple as missing a comma or spelling a word wrong, it is something that I have noticed and I have began to work on more. As the semester progressed, I allowed myself more time to sit down and really focus on the task at hand.…

When it comes to my weaknesses, I had trouble with focusing on one idea at a time. For example, If I am writing about how beauty and the beast feel in love with each other, I interrupt that idea and skip to them getting married and having a happy ever after.
