How To Write A Rhetorical Analysis Essay

Improved Essays
“Never neglect an opportunity for improvement.”- Sir William Jones. There are many areas in my writing that I need to develop but I picked a few of the biggest and basic ones for my midterm project. Grammar and spelling, linking words throughout my essays, and transitions are all areas I have found very useful resources for.
Linking and connecting words is an issue for me because I find it difficult to combine all the ideas I have in my head and transfer them into my writing. I also have to make sure the ideas within sentences and paragraphs are elegantly connected. Smart-words.org is a resource that gave me free lists of linking words and phrases. It showed me transitions words for agreement, addition, and similarly as well as conclusion, summary, and restatement phrases. I also used the information in this website on a Rhetorical Analysis paper for my English class. There were many places in my essay that just didn’t flow well. Having a list of words I could go through to see what would sound more sophisticated was very helpful. This website has improved my writing significantly.

I can look over a paper time and time again but there will still be errors that I miss. It is really helpful to have an extra set of eyes to review my papers, but there isn’t always someone who is available to do that. Paperrater.com is a great resource that I have found. All I did was upload my Rhetorical Analysis paper and it showed me the mistakes I had made. It also graded my paper a “B” and told me different areas I needed to improve. I needed extra improvement in my word choice and it showed me words I could use to expand the paper I uploaded. I also put commas in places I needed periods so I went through my paper and changed all of those mistakes. This is going to help with any essays in the future because it is free, informative, and easy to

August 28th, 1963 will always be remembered as the day when 200,000 people gathered to witness the birth of a new chapter in the history of America. During “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom”, Martin Luther King – minister, speaker and renowned civil rights leader captivated his audience within 17 minutes of sheer eloquence. The sixties marked the apotheosis of racial victimization; it was during the most cynical time that Dr. King rose with a message of peace and equality, staunchly soliciting the acceptance and promotion of equanimity and racial accord. Dr. King in his speech structured a pensive mission illustrating the maltreatment of people of ‘color’ – expressing the forgotten validity of Emancipation Proclamation. “I Have a Dream” was penned and delivered as an effective lattice of words which catapulted a…

I didn’t have a thesis in my original exam draft, because I didn't know what a rhetorical analysis was. The lack of a thesis made it very hard to properly organize my essay. My new thesis is "In his passage he focuses on three states of mind that he attributes to the existence of slaves. These three states of mind are happiness, loneliness, and anger and are chosen because they are easily relatable and make the audience more open to his story. " This new thesis is stronger because it directly adresses the prompt and provides a foundation on which to write my essay.…
