My first writing of the year was my personal narrative, and it had several problems that were present throughout. One issue within it was my character descriptions. My mother’s character was a bit shallow, because my sentence starters were repetitive. Another problem is that I felt my writing was a bit too choppy, and the story moved too quickly. I have grown in this area because I have learned to add sensory detail to incorporate stronger character development and plot description which helps blend the parts of my writing together and gets rid of the choppiness. My revisions added sensory detail and incorporated a variety of word usages to make the story better. At the beginning of the year, I was being too repetitive with my word choice. The describing words I chose were weak. But I learned throughout the year to think about ways to add interesting descriptions that strengthen my writing. This includes things like sensory detail and analogies. An example of an analogy that I included in my writing is my connection to being a small animal experiencing deforestation in my persuasive essay. There is always some aspect of your writing that can be improved. That is why the point that I am focusing on extremely hard is using sensory detail to be thorough in my writing. Sensory detail is the way to project your ideas from your mind onto the paper. That is why it is important for me to build my writing skills to become more adept at translating my mind onto the paper, because the words that I put on paper act as a bridge into a fathomless world that is full of unopened chests that each have a special characteristic. Inside those chests lies the insight that is learned through both beneficial and malign experiences. You never learn how to become a strong writer through turning in perfect essays. The secret to growing as a writer is to make mistakes. Because the next time you add something similar to your writing, you remember the mistake and know what to fix in order change
