Sleep Health Foundation chairman David Hillman conducted a survey of 15000 people aged 14 to 70, finding that one third of the group do not feel refreshed when waking up as 19% state that sleepiness interferes with daily activities. The survey also should that the average Australian sleeps for 7 hours instead of the recommended duration, which is 8 hours. By implementing this initiative, students are able to refresh themselves by sleeping for 15 minutes, meaning that their sleepiness will not interfere with school work. Additionally, students will be able to become energised as the program will be available on Wednesdays and Fridays, as students find Wednesday to be the busiest day of the week due to the fact that it is the middle of the week and that students lack in motivation on Friday due to the upcoming weekends and the busy schedule that they have been following all week. This means students are able to regain their energy on the busiest times of the week, hence they are able to perform better in stressful times.
