Social networking sites have been being considered as an astonishing invention in today’s modernised era. Do you know the population of social networking site’s users? “The users around the world were 1.47 billion in 2012 and will be 1.73 billion this year with 18% of escalation, also it is expected to reach 2.55 billion by 2017”-emarketer report. The popularity of social networking sites is mounting leaps and bounds among all walks of life. On other hand, it has its own positive and negative side. However, Social networking sites have dominated people’s life in a positive way by introducing innovative learning style in education and by providing the facility of personal and professional networking, but in contrast it has negative side of …show more content…
According to Wodzicki et. al. (2012), social networking sites enable the students to get rid of conventional learning style of education and give new learning platform so they become more lively towards their study. This means that study on social networking sites makes them more intriguing towards their study. Moreover, cooperative work builds competitive environment to motivate and inspire them for study more and more to acquire good grades among their classmates. Also, they can gather more knowledge by discoursing rather than to memorize all things by reading books. For instance, Facebook facilitate the teenagers to have group study by generating a group. They can discuss freely with their peer group by posting their views and doubts on Facebook wall. So, they can digest any serious subject very easily. Further to this, as Roblyer et. al. (2010) point out that social networking sites (SNSs) are the more demanding communication channel for the students as well as faculty for educational purpose. Christopherson (2007) argues that pressure and anti-social behaviour due to social networking sites lead to heighten aggressiveness and this accounts to the hazardous outcome of suicide. This means that harassment itself means mocking, making fun of, rude comments, dispersion of rumours. So, this kind of activity on social networking sites makes the people more pressurize which engenders suicide. For instance, On Facebook, youngsters have engaged with antisocial activities which are rising day by day. By creating fake account with different name, boys misuse girls. Moreover, by commenting on the pictures of a friend in bad words and also by uploading a porn pic on girl’s profile, they give rise to antisocial activities. Furthermore, McCreanor et. al. (2013) claim that alcohol publicizing on social networking sites results into some negative consequences and also it damage the human health. That shows that alcohol marketing on social media allows today’s teenagers to get addicted towards it. Intake of alcohol and drugs create an adverse effect on healthiness and also excessive consumption may account to criminal activity. For example, We could see on facebook, there are so many pages made for alcohol, and youngsters shares a picture of alcohol in their peer group and conversation on alcohol become a major key concern for them.In brief, anti-social behaviour and alcohol
