There have been many studies conducted on the various features of the Internet, its connection to social media, and how it influences intimate, and professional relationships. Though many scholars believe that the advent of the computer age, coupled with enormity of information available on the Internet, has enabled people, young and old, to access many areas of knowledge (Morris & Stevens 2007). On the other hand, some results suggest that heavy use of the Internet by people may be a factor of producing negative social well-being (Merkle & Richardson, 2000). By social media becoming one of the fastest growing trends, the use of the Internet has started to boom, making people more socially dependent on the Internet.
