The more the human race develops, the more it finds ways to stay connected and engage with one another. Communication can now be easily carried out electronically in a matter of seconds, a process used by a typical consumer everyday. A process that is also essential to the world of business; a world that is full of advertisements with the basic intention to reach as many potential buyers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Social media and internet use by teenagers is at an all time peak. In fact, as of 2012, ninety five percent of teens are online, seventy eight percent of teens own personal cell phones, and about half of those cell phones are smartphones (citation). With this comes the use of the mobile applications such as Snapchat and Instagram, two commonly used social media forms for kids that allow the ability to constantly stay in touch. When properly taken advantage of, a business can promote impactful advertising through these visual forms of communication. Though both Snapchat and Instagram offer businesses a chance to promote themselves through what seems to be extremely similar means, once looked at in depth, it is clear that Snapchat offers a wider variety of choices to the one advertising, in addition to the advantages that can be found in its basic profile, making it superior over Instagram, even though Instagram offers the opportunity for certain posts to be permanent.
