Should you to go to college or should you go straight into the workforce after high school? This is a driving question students hear all throughout their high school career. It’s like a broken record playing over and over. Many students think college is now a mandatory obligation or you will not have a good paying job or may even be left without a job. This is not true, not in the very least. Many students graduate high school and go straight into the workforce and make a very good living. I personally know someone who didn’t even graduate high school and they are making nearly $150,000 a year. This goes to show you parents and teachers shouldn’t make it seem like college will make or break your future. So what should you actually do go to college or go to work right out of high school?

Maybe you like helping out people. You would be a great fit in the medical field, there is many opportunities and jobs to pursue in this field. Maybe you like money, just like everybody else, if making quite a bit of money then college is definitely the route you should pursue. It doesn’t matter what field you pursue, research shows throughout a person's working career people that have college degrees earn more annually than people who went straight into the workforce. In the article “”The Value of a College Degree” it states “According to the Census Bureau, over an adult's working life, high school graduates earn an average of $1.2 million; associate's degree holders earn about $1.6 million; and bachelor's degree holders earn about $2.1 million”.
