Could you imagine someone you have known all your life, a monster? Would you consider someone who killed your mother or your loved one a monster? Or what about someone who murders your best friend of ten years? This monster is a serial killer. A serial killer is conventionally defined as a person who murders three or more people in a period of over a month, with “cooling down” time between murders For a serial killer, the murders must be separate events, which are most often driven by a psychological thrill or pleasure (“Serial Killer”). Meanwhile, the definition of monster is someone who is inhumanly cruel or wicked person (“Monster”). Are serial killers not someone who is wicked or cruel? Serial killers often make the choices that they do because they love the thrill of killing someone or the pleasure. On the other hand, often times, the reason serial killers kill is because of how they were raised or because of how they were treated. They can be someone you have known all your life or someone that has a fetish for curly hair. Everyone is their own monster and sometimes it’s just waiting to be unleashed. However, in this case, serial killers are one of the sets of group people whose personalities already demonstrate monstrous side. But what causes this leash to be let loose?
