They want to act out of their fantasies. The same fantasies they had had as children are the ones they want to still act out as adults. Once they have had their first kill, they want to continue so they find the kill that is as perfect as their fantasy.
There is a lengthy list of some of the motivators as to why children abuse animals. Some of these motivators are the children want something to control or retaliate against, to express aggression through an animal. For example, training the animal to attack or be aggressive. Other reasons are to experience the feeling of taking a life, their curious and want to explore the world of dissection and mutilation, their bored and want a thrill, to identify with the person that is abusing them, and they are rehearsing on animals for what they want to act out on people (U.S. Department of Justice, 2011).
There are three stages where the child might abuse animals. The first stage is the exploratory stage. This age group is either preschool or early elementary. The child is not supervised well and is not properly educated how to treat animals. Older children who are developmentally delayed may also be in this group (U.S. Department of Justice,

They lack imagination and patience. Most do not have psychotic behavior but do not know the difference between right and wrong. Psychotic serial killers do not have many victims because they do not take notice where they kill or even take the steps to try and cover it up.
Psychopath serial killers are very anti-social, egocentric, and they do know the difference between right and wrong. They do as they please but they take care in making sure they do not get caught. They tend to blend in with society and are harder to catch.
Being around a serial killer before he or she is caught; one could say he or she are nice, maybe even normal. Between kills serial killers lead a pretty normal life, such as going to work, eating, getting haircuts, and mowing the lawn. But sooner or later they show their true colors. Dirty habits come out such as pathological lying, verbal abuse, and them saying there are always people out to get
