The Stanger Beside Me: The Case Of Ted Bundy

Decent Essays
Rule, Ann. The Stanger beside Me. Paperback ed., Pocket Books. 2009.
Ann Rule describes Ted’s life events from her perspective. She also tells us about their conversations during their friendship. She describes how she helped police investigate her friend without knowing she was helping the police to capture her friend.
Anne Rule’s book has a lot of information about his crimes that I think would be an interesting perspective. She describes him as such a normal person which I feel would be a great addition to my paper. The fact that she talked to him even after the arrest just shows the way Ted Bundy thinks.

The Riverman. Eagles, Bill. Tom Towler, Robert D. Keppel. Lionsgate. 6 Sept. 2004.
The movie is based on a book by Robert Keppel where Ted Bundy helps to convict the Green River Killer. In this movie, it shows how they also attempted to get a confession out of Bundy. They ultimately caught the Green River Killer and Bundy helped to understand how to talk to a serial killer in order to get a confession.
The movie shows how Bundy was able to use his own experiences. I think that is an important part of his later confessions. And how it helped investigators to understand his murders as

Nature's Truth The Nature vs. Nurture is the most common debatable subject in Psychology. Like whether personality is a nature or a nurture thing. I personally think that nature is the biggest predictor of personality and behaviour. And it refers to the range of traits, capacities and limitations that each person inherits genes from his or her parents at the moment of conception such as pigmentation of the skin, eye colour, body type, diseases, athletic ability, memory and etc. But some traits have a stronger tendency to get passed down like height and weight unlike shyness and intelligence which have some tendency to get passed down.…

In response to the multiple criticisms pinned against Merton’s Classical Strain Theory, Robert Agnew revitalized Strain theory to make it more broad and applicable. This theory shifted from the ideals that crime was caused by the unattainability of the American Dream to crime being precipitated by the inability to cope with negative affective states. Agnew noticed a miscorrelation between increasing crime between adolescent population and Merton’s Theory of Classic Strain. CST didn’t give reasoning to why crime rates among adolescents was increasing; this questioning is what initiated Agnew’s theory. Merton and Agnew had the same hypothesis, (strain causes delinquency), but different operational definitions of what strain is.…

In the book The Lord of The flies, by William Golding, Jack goes from being a good kid to more of a savage beast. Jack is like Ted Bundy in several ways. He begins as a average, intelligent young man, he gets a taste of what evil is like, and how evil overcomes all that they live for. Ted Bundy: The Suave Serial Killer Theodore Robert Conwell, more commonly known as Ted Bundy, was born on November 24, 1946 to Eleanor Louise Cowell in Burlington, Vermont. He was considered an illegitimate child because his mother was not married and didn’t even know for sure who the father was. Her parents were very religious and to prevent the social stigma of the bastard child, raised Ted as their own and told him that his mother was his sister. As a toddler, Ted was known to have an affinity for knives. His aunt Julia describes a time where she had “awoken from a nap to find that she’d been surrounded by knives from the kitchen and Ted was standing by the bed smiling.…

THE CASE AGAINST RALPH ARMSTRONG In late 2015, Wisconsin’s criminal justice came to the fore of the nation’s public consciousness with the Making a Murderer documentary series. Both of his cases fell under a heavy cloud of doubt in the veracity of the investigation, the validity of the charges against him and the trial that imprisoned him.…

The second theory I would list Ted Gundy under is psychological theory. I say this because he committed these awful crimes because it addressed certain needs he needed, needs that reminded him of his college girlfriend who broke up with him. I also list him under this one because his family who Ted did not really know exactly well could have helped cause these highly illegal behaviors that he participated in. Other theories could possibly fit into Ted Dundy’s description but I feel like these are the two most important theories that cover a lot of his life and how he went about…
