Ted Bundy is one of the most well known serial killers in history; however, how many people he murdered and how long he had been slaughtering people is still unknown. Bundy raped and murdered approximately 36 women all over the United States. To understand how someone could do such horrible things, one must seek to learn about Bundy’s life.
On November 24th, 1946, Bundy was born out of wedlock in Burlington, Vermont. For Elanor Cowell, Bundy’s mother, having a child out of wedlock was very shameful. Her parents were flabbergasted, and even told Bundy they were his parents and Elanor was his sister (he later discovered his birth certificate in 1966 and resented his mother for her deeds). He blamed his acts on pornography. His victims resembled his ex-girlfriend and came from many states around the United States. He was arrested many times and even escaped prison.
He fought for his life for many years. His mother defended her son until he told her the truth about his murders- shortly before his execution. Eventually, he was executed by electric chair on January 24th, 1989 at the Florida State Prison around 7 a.m.
Ted Bundy’s somewhat childhood contributes to his acts as an adult. He resented his mom for lying to him about his parentage and caused an unhealthy relationship with his mother. He had a stepfather whom he did not get along with, but there was no abuse. The rejection of his peers also influences his acts because humans need to have stable relationships with other people to be mentally stable.
However, I do believe that he was born with behaviors that are not “natural” such as having an interest of knives at the age of three. Pornography might have affected Bundy too because of the male dominance that is shown (which is unhealthy for women and men). Maybe the porn made him see women as objects instead of women, but the breakup with his girlfriend caused him so much distress that he lost it and started raping young
