In the book The Lord of The flies, by William Golding, Jack goes from being a good kid to more of a savage beast. Jack is like Ted Bundy in several ways. He begins as a average, intelligent young man, he gets a taste of what evil is like, and how evil overcomes all that they live for.
Before I start talking about the similarities between these two, we must first know the background of Ted Bundy. According to biography.com, he was born in Vermont as his mother’s secret shame because she was not married yet and her parents were very religious. She brought him to her parents house and they adopted him to hide that he was her son. When the hunters went exploring the island, they came up on a pig that was tangled in the creepers. When jack hesitated and missed it, he was angry at himself and vowed not to miss the next time he had an opportunity to kill and that's where he gets his first taste of what evil is really like. “He tried to convey the compulsion to track down and kill that was swallowing him up.... The madness came into his eyes again. I thought I might kill.”(Golding 51) Like stated in the previous paragraph, this compares to Ted Bundy being mad about breaking up with his girlfriend and killing young girls that reminded him of her. Jack was infuriated that he missed the pig and wasn’t going to stop hunting until he killed one but ended up killing more than one. As the story keeps going, we soon realize that Jack is no longer killing for meat but just to kill.
The split up of the group of boys is bad for all of them. At this point, Jack doesn’t even care about being rescued. Like Bundy, Jack had become addicted to killing. He painted his face with the blood of a pig and and start to laugh. “He began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling.” (Golding 64) Towards the end of the book, Jack started to go insane. He even kills simon thinking that he was the beastie. By the end of the book, Jack and the rest of the boys in his group end up going on a man hunt for
