Community College of Aurora Theodore Robert Bundy, AKA Ted Bundy, is one of the more well-known serial killers in this nation. Before his death in 1989, he had confessed to thirty-six murders, but the number is likely much higher and some estimate it’s likely in the hundreds. Bundy was a serial rapist and killer, he raped his victims before beating them to death, that had a tristate murder spree. Bundy had escaped prison twice, before he was eventually caught and put on his final trial when he was convicted of murder and was given the death sentence. Bundy lived an interesting life and looking back at it, could show how he impacted society.
Bundy’s psychopathic nature was something that could’ve seen as early as 3 years old, when he had become obsessed with knives; even in high school, he started to steal things and stalk people. After Bundy’s conviction when he was being interviewed, he said, “Murder is not about lust and it's not about violence. It's about possession,” (Rule, 2008, 380). He was considered charming and good-looking which allowed him to be attractive to women and even got him many fans. Ted Bundy was one of the few serial killers which developed a fan base, even throughout his trials and his interviews he continued to be cunning and manipulative by saying things such as, “I don’t want to die; I won’t kid you. I deserve, certainly, the most extreme punishment society has. And I think society deserves to be protected from me and from others like me.” (Sypff 77, 2015).
