People at one point or another in life are presented with the opportunity to become a leader, but it is up to oneself to make that choice. Leaders are people we look up to, those who want to make a difference one way or another. They posses a certain kind of confidence that enables them to inspire others and gain their trust. Great leadership is highly important in order to prevent chaos and confusion in various workplaces. There has been a significant amount of leaders in the past, as well as today, all of which have similar qualities. Being in ROTC has taught me multiple things, all of which is aimed at making us future leaders in the ARMY.

One way to get inspiration is through reading what some of our leaders in the past have done. Take Martin Luther King for example, most of us know how he inspired many through what he said, he really appealed to people 's emotions and made them think about a better future, which in turn motivated them to want something better. That is what leaders do, inspire others through what they say. Other examples of great leaders are Ceasar Chavez, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi and many more. Thinking back on all the things I have gone through with my fellow cadets makes me smile at the thought that I never gave up and that I tried my best. And even though I have learned so much, as well as my fellow cadets, MS2 year will be a new journey full of new surprises. So far my understanding of leaders is that age does not matter, what matters is what a leader can inspire others to do. A leader can even be someone people come to with their problems or if they need advice. One thing we should keep in mind, like Colin Powell said is that, “The day the soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.” Leadership is having the complete trust of your men and their respect too. A great leader also knows when to follow and when to step back and give their men the opportunity to lead. I will use the things I learned about being a leader and apply it to next semester my MS2 year by being more talkative so I can motivate others, just like how I was motivated. I will also use this information and keep it fresh in my mind so next semester I can come feeling
