Personal Statement: The Ideal NHS

The National Honor Society expects students to embody the characteristics of leadership, character, and service, which make up the ideal NHS member. In terms of meeting all of the qualifications I strongly believe that I not only meet, but exceed, these expectations. Throughout their high school years many excellent students demonstrate these qualities while others may go further and have other qualities that make them stand out. In addition to being involved in, and balancing, extracurricular activities for the duration of each school year, I have found myself taking classes I never would have imagined myself taking.
In terms of leadership, a leader demonstrates strong skills in directing and leading people. I believe that in order to become a good leader you have to be a team player. By being a member of a team you can learn examples of solid leadership. I believe that my overall character is shown by how hard working I am. I always try to do my best to succeed in school, whether it’s from staying up late at night to study or doing well on tests. I also go out of my way to help people. I believe that helping others is a really important quality and that I demonstrate it in numerous ways. I keep an eye on people and if I see someone struggling I step in. For instance, one of my really good friends was going through a rough time in her life and didn’t feel like she had anyone else to turn to. I made it a priority to constantly check up on her, listen, and to just be there. Later on I reached out to a trusted adult to get some more help for my friend. Overall my character as a person is made evident by my strong work ethic and my sincere desire to help
