I believe that my best paper this semester was the interview essay. This paper helped my thesis statement, transition, and organization skills greatly. With this essay I was able to better understand how to map out my paper with an effective thesis statement. This has helped my work flow more and added a keen sense of intelligence. I have seen much improvement in my essays but have seen the most significant change from my first entrance essay “My season”, to my major events essay “Wayward Feelings”, to my final argumentative essay “A Helpful Hand”. I believe that this class was able to help improve my writing skills in many ways. Producing mid-drafts seemed like a nuisance at first, but has really helped improve my writing. By producing mid-drafts I was always tempted to re-read my essays before handing them in, which is something that I had never did before. Also having peer feedback also helped my writing. I end up spending way too much time overthinking what to write, that it ends up not sounding as well as I know I am capable of. During my sophomore year, I had a teacher that I struggled with mostly because the focus was not on writing or grammatical skills but on group discussions over books/short stories and vocab tests. We barely ever had to write an essay freshman or sophomore year, so getting into higher level classes I did not acquire the necessary experience. English is an undoubtedly versatile subject with countless interpretations and I find it difficult to understand what I believe my audience would like. If I did not have a problem with over thinking, I would be a superior writer.…
