Pro Life: Pro-Life Vs. Pro Choice

Better Essays
There has been a long existing debate of “Pro-Life” versus “Pro-Choice” about whether or not women should be able to abort a child. Many people being Pro-Choice will use the argument that the fetus isn 't a living person, and rather that it is the woman’s body; therefore the woman’s choice. There are other options women have such as adoption: waiting until the baby is born and providing the child a well-suited family to properly care for them. I believe any way you can avoid aborting a child is better than abortion because you give the child a chance for life. An unborn child in the womb contains all of the characteristics for it to be considered living, proving abortion is morally and scientifically wrong. Abortion, in less harsh terms, is the termination of a pregnancy due to reasons of rape, incest, issues with the mother’s health, or just an unwanted pregnancy. Many believe abortion is simply the murder of an innocent life. Over 56 million unborn children have been aborted; that is 1 abortion every 24 seconds. Many people believe that abortion is morally wrong for many reasons. First, life starts at the moment of conception (the mother and father have created a new life). Second, abortion is also very unsafe for the mother. She can endure not only physical pain, but also emotional pain. Third, it is a natural instinct of humans to preserve or protect life, we should not be killing off our own race. Lastly, abortion is morally wrong from the viewpoint of our Savior, Jesus Christ: abortion is a …show more content…
Women can put their babies up for adoption when they are born. They can choose to have a closed adoption or an open adoption. A closed adoption is when the birth mother will not be in contact with the baby at all, and an open adoption is when the parents allow the birth mother to stay in contact with the baby and see the baby whenever she wants. Women can also think about keeping the baby themselves. Babies cost a lot of money and take a lot of time and care, but raising a child is so rewarding. The mother could also consider their parents or the father’s parents wanting to take care of the baby or helping out as well. You can also put your baby in foster care if you eventually want to care for the baby, just are unable to right now. The baby would stay in a suitable foster home until you are ready or able to be a parent and provide for your baby. In conclusion, the topic of abortion raises a huge argument whether or not the unborn child has the right to live or not. Yeah some mothers might not be suitable to have a baby but, that doesn 't mean you have to kill it. Although abortion may be the only route out if it concerns the health of the mother in some situations, people may argue that abortion should not be the easy way out for those who failed to take responsibility. Until we figure out that abortion should be illegal millions of babies will

Although, many of pro-life reasoning are viable, other opinions such as women should take preventers or practice abstinence is the most deranged implement. Abortion has been around for quit sometime now, and its support is only getting stronger. Advocates of abortion emphasize one’s ability to have the choice of whether that person wants to keep the baby or not. They believe that the person that was conceived is technically not a human being yet, and is a person once the mother has given birth to the child. Because they believe that the person they are aborting is not a human, it is then okay to end its life. They make arguments such as having the option of abortion will help victims of rape, incest, or if the person is just not ready to have a child.…

I also hear that if a woman wants to have intercourse and does not want to get pregnant, than she should be using some type of birth control. I will argue why these statements are not true whatsoever. Most people believe that all people should accept the consequences to their actions, and that is something I believe as well. This is probably why pro-lifers argue that abortion is wrong because the women chose to have sex and now she needs to be willing to accept that child that she is now pregnant with, or the “consequence” of her actions. Often enough, though, a woman ends up pregnant even when she has taken necessary steps to not get pregnant, such as using contraceptives.…

If the mother dies and the the child dies, then there are two lives that no longer exist. Is two deaths better than one? A third reason that people might have an abortion is because they are scared that the baby will have disabilities. For this paper I will be arguing my views and opinions about abortion. Abortion is one thing I am strongly against. It is taking a baby’s life that doesn’t even get a say in if they live or not. Nobody should be able to have an abortion, if they don’t want the kid then they should just put it up for adoption or take the certain measures to make sure they don’t get pregnant in the first place. There are a lot of factors that go with abortion.…

Additionally, the baby’s right to be alive is much more important than the mother’s right of deciding whether she wants a child or not. Fortunately, a simple solution to this problem is adoption. Many people want to adopt children, with or without birth defects. Sadly, abortion not only kills babies, but it also prevents these people from creating a…

Even if a mother decides to keep her child instead of giving the baby up for adoption, there are other options that are available to her in order to provide proper care for the child. Women can go to a crisis pregnancy center and receive advice and information regarding the possibility of putting their baby up for adoption. Adoption is a great alternative to abortion. In such cases pro-choice supporters may feel that abortion is the answer. The exact moment of life isn’t always clear; therefore abortion shouldn’t be considered murder. Since the embryo would still be dependent on the mother’s body for survival, it is not a viable life in its own right. In an argument, if it wasn’t for abortion, more welfare-eligible babies will be born, also meaning increasing our tax cost. Not only the United States, but the world also is suffering from over population. People on the pro-choice side who are for abortion, believe that it will reduce the number of “unfit” people who reproduce (Crum & McCormack, 1992).…
