Port Clinton Middle School: A Short Story

Improved Essays
I walked up the steps, only to see several students scattered everywhere confused. It was loud, as I trudged through them to get to my locker. I had nothing organized and had no idea where any of my friends were. Standing there wishing summer wasn’t over. I didn’t know if I could handle the middle school. Slowly I turn myself around. There I was, a new sixth grader at Port Clinton Middle School terrified, yet hopeful.
I was excited that I was finally in the middle school, but also extremely nervous. The only thing I could feel were butterflies in my stomach. I start glancing around seeing each clique together, all talking. The jocks to my right. I looked to the left and saw my friends on the couches. I join them, I finally feel some reassurance

They’ve kept this position until the raucous bell rang, which woke them up from their trance. As Grant walked down the noisy hallways, he observed many of the bulletin boards and posters hung up on the beige, spotted walls. These colorful pictures kept him motivated to work hard and persevere. He approached the crowded cafeteria, made up of round tables with bubble gum stuck to each one, rusty trash cans that make an annoying noise if they fall, and windows covered in random oil stains coming from the greasy food the lunch ladies cook.…

We walked into the air conditioned building from the smoldering heat. This was the hard part; Jordy and I had to part ways and go to different classes. As we left each other the nerves grew inside me like a shaken up soda waiting for a fool to open it and explode. Praying that I had friends in my class, I walked in unsure if my legs were weak because of the anxiety I was feeling about who I was going to eat lunch with or the long hike I was going to have to take daily to Mrs.…
