Grant and his other classmates from Cedarwood Middle were slouching with their heads down on the desks. They’ve kept this position until the raucous bell rang, which woke them up from their trance. As Grant walked down the noisy hallways, he observed many of the bulletin boards and posters hung up on the beige, spotted walls. These colorful pictures kept him motivated to work hard and persevere. He approached the crowded cafeteria, made up of round tables with bubble gum stuck to each one, rusty trash cans that make an annoying noise if they fall, and windows covered in random oil stains coming from the greasy food the lunch ladies cook. He was a very quiet and introverted person and wanted to do everything on his own. Eventually, he finally …show more content…

Grant had explained the whole situation to the principal as tears fell gently down his face, thinking he’ll be in huge trouble. He walked inside the room, shivering. “Grant, we would like to honor you for your actions today.” Mr. Stuarts said. “Wait, what did you say?” Grant said puzzledly. “One of the school board members saw the security camera footage of you trying to defend the poor boy and wanted you to be remembered. We’ll have an assembly and the whole school will attend.” Grant was in shock, and grinned at Mr. Stuarts. He was proud and satisfied with his actions. Grant wanted everyone to follow his actions and choose the right decision. Til’ this day, in Cedarwood Middle, Grant is known for being a role model and hero to everyone in the

The bell rang and the second quarter of my Kindergarten year at William Cullen Bryant Elementary ended. I grabbed my report card as I ran out into the light snow and spotted my mother's white 1997 Caravan by the stop sign, as usual. An enormous smile covers my face as I hop into the car, eager to show her I had prioritized my academics before sports, as she had asked me to. As soon as I was settled in, I handed her the envelope containing my pride. Proud of what I had accomplished, but to my dismay she gave me the “I’m disappointed look” and said, “Cullen”, her voice rising, “Why are there not one, but two threes on this report card?”…
