8th Grade Graduation Speeches

Welcome family, friends, students, and faculty. We arrived at this school 9 years ago and now we are already graduating. How did time go by so fast? It seems like only yesterday we were short little kindergarteners trying to learn our alphabet and looking up to the intimidating eighth graders. The bad news is time flies by, the good news it we are the pilots. I have got to known all 50 of my fellow classmates over these years, some more than others, but I will always remember them all for having such a large impact on my life. I still remember the first day when we all met as we walked into Mrs. Sette’s kindergarten classroom. As I entered I noticed a girl in the corner of the room by herself crying by the name of Alex. I approached her to ask her what was wrong and she told me about how she missed her mom. I sat down next to her and she became the first friend I ever made in this school. As we went through the year, kindergarten started to get hard as they expected us to be able to read at least one book. I had been …show more content…
I would have a different teacher for every subject and a homeroom teacher I knew nothing about. I knew this was the year that school became the most difficult but, I knew I could make it threw with most of my friends in my class. She taught us everything we needed and even allowed us to participate in a Science Fair. I enjoyed sharing new scientific articles I had read at home and discussing them with her. She continued with that same energetic attitude through the end of eighth grade. I found not only a teacher in Ms. Herliczek but, also a

The beginning of Junior year, my second year after I was accepted to the Teaching Academy. We walked to Rio Vista Elementary school to become reading buddies. Preschool caught my eye because I’ve been told they were difficult because of their age and how small their attention span was. The first day we didn’t choose our buddies they decided who they wanted. I was chosen by this girl named Jasymine, she was shy and didn’t talk as much as her classmate did.…

I remember the day before my first day at Pennoyer. I was sad and happy, scared, and mad all at the same time. I remember crying and yelling at my parents to not make me go to school that next day. The next day I showed up at school and remember walking into Mrs. Michael’s third grade class and seeing all of these new people that I would be friends with for years to come. At this school is where I made new friends, great memories, and where I grew up from a little kid into a young adult.…

As I walked through the front doors of Allentown Central Catholic High School, I felt a sudden rush of panic. Everything I had once seen and had once been familiar with in middle school quickly vanished into thin air. I was terrified, not because I thought I was going to get lost, but because I knew that every little quiz I took, every little paper I wrote, and every exam I labored over would now count toward my ultimate goal of getting into a prestigious university. I wasn’t scared of new faces, but rather new beginnings and experiences.…

It was in early June of 2006, a pleasant, exciting Saturday evening. One hundred of us sit anxiously, one after the other, in cold metal chairs in the cafeteria of my elementary school. We wore purple silky gowns. We wait nervously for our names. Once all our names are called, we wait patiently for what happens next, and look for our parents faces, we had just heard that we were the 2006 graduating kindergarten class at Elgin Elementary.…

The summer between my sophomore year and junior year was a life changing period. For one, my mother and I moved to Waco, Texas, an 8-hour drive from my home of Weslaco. Along with this new address, I also had a new school. Naturally, I went to the school nearest my home, Connally High School. I walked into the classroom and took a seat next to a chubby Asian boy. It was my first day in my new school and it had only been three days since we had moved to America. The classroom was decorated with the essence of childhood. There were posters that announced the alphabet, numbers one through ten, and shelves upon shelves of books filled with colorful pictures that were carefully put together in a worn out shelf in the corner of the classroom. Ms. Ellis was my teacher that year, a short rotund woman with olive skin and a pixie hair cut.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…
