Free Education For All
Everyone, at least once in their lifetime, has had the feeling of coming too far in order to be setback. Imagine a student, a junior in high school, who has a list of colleges in mind, but they have one minor setback. College tuition. For so many years, college education was not essential in the workforce, but now jobs that require little to no college education are depleting and there are millions of people wanting jobs. In order to obtain jobs, one needs more than twelve years of education and money in able to pay for that education. Universities and private institutions are steadily increasing their prices causing students not to attend college due to their financial situation. As tuition and fees continue to get higher, scholarships will be more challenging to achieve, and the student will have to get multiple student loans to cover it. “Tuition and fees at public colleges soared a record 14 percent this year, continuing a quarter-century trend of higher-education prices rocketing faster than inflation,” (Price 3). It is true that the government has not always funded the children through the twelfth grade, but times have changed, (Kingsley 16). On one hand, some would argue that students can get apply for a loan or financial aid to pay for college. Education is not free now does not mean that students are prohibited from entering a college or university for a higher education. According to an article, “Many scholarships available in colleges are available in colleges across the country to assist low-income students in reaching their academic potential,” (Jacobs 20). There is a lot of educational grants and scholarships that students can get. For example, “Federal support for higher education comprises loans, such as the Federal Direct loan program; grants, such as Pell Grants or Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants; college work-study;
