In recent years employers have begun to use personality test as a method of screening employees. Many employers use personality tests in the employment selection process to identify people who have more than just the knowledge and skills necessary for their jobs (Baez, 2010). Personality tests help organizations profile personality characteristics. Many personality tests exist, but, the most commonly used personality tests used in employment screening measures five basic factors of personality are: openness to experience, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability. This test is often used for sales positions and there is evidence that personality testing can be used to predict performance (Bryars & Rue, 2011). Proponents believe that personality tests are good predictors of employee performance because they identify several critical work-related skills in today’s tea, and multicultural environments. However opponents of this topic believes that individuals fake their personality when they realize the outcomes are different. This paper will examine each side of the debate. Applicants fake answers on the tests to get positive scores and also provide answers that are regarded as socially acceptable. When this is done the great candidates can be screened out because they were unable to answer the correct way that the test requires while the applicant that fake their answers and gave the employee the answer that they think is socially acceptable would be the one hired. Opponents of personality tests also believe that the tests are invasive. They think that the questions that are asked on the test do not have relation to the job that the applicant is applying
