The very essence of existence of mankind lies in the curiosity to find out the meaningful purpose of your existence which is obviously not just surviving in this world. Therefore, going after a career path that allows lifelong learning was imperative to satisfy my curiosity. My decision to pursue family medicine was not a straightforward one; multiple factors allured me to embark on the path of family medicine. The very thought of being able to provide care to every individual in every aspect , be it a mother going through the mystified birth process to a fragile elderly coping with the misery of old age.
Family medicine encompasses medical care with particular attention directed towards a family unit, neither patient’s sex or age nor a specific disease process or a peculiar organ system limits the physician’s responsibility to provide persistent care to the patients.
My enthusiasm towards family medicine further grew stronger during the last three years of medical school which bestowed me the opportunity to have a direct exposure to patients from different cultural backgrounds with a wide array of cases ranging from prenatal care to geriatrics, providing care to a patient through all these stages of life seems more challenging to me. With all these acquired skills, passionate ambitions and aptitude, I feel confident and ready to provide my services as a resident. Intricate nature of medical illnesses no longer inspires me but instead challenges posed by a vast spectrum of different diseases during patient care overwhelm me. I aspire to provide care with dedication, affection and kindness to people. I am looking for a residency program that allows me to grow professionally, be a skilled physician that I have always wanted to be.
