Compassion lies at the heart of medicine. In the midst of the A&E ward, my time in hospital revealed the healthcare team’s professionalism as they worked together efficiently during ward rounds. It left me inspired. Following this, medicine has appealed to me becoming a route to better the health of others. The opportunity to provide care and to use medical knowledge for patient benefit compels me to become a doctor.
Experiencing how patients were treated showed me how proficient doctors are. Seeing the ability to treat patients with care whilst using their medical knowledge simultaneously simply astounded me. I have taken my interest in sport further by continuing to play tennis on a weekly basis. I volunteered to raise money for a charity called Habitat for Humanity that builds houses for the homeless in other countries. Within a school chemistry competition, I was part of a team to gain first place for producing the purest sample of aspirin. I have also represented my school as an ambassador, helping to promote the school’s science department for which I have grown fond of as science fascinates me. I won the bronze award in maths and competed against other schools in the country helping to develop my numerical skills. Furthermore, I have helped younger children within my school to improve their reading abilities.
My passion for medicine has been reinforced by my personal experiences. I am ready to further my education in pursuit of becoming a doctor. I strive to see what I will learn from my future studies. Ready to face new challenges, I look forward to working in the medical profession with eager anticipation of my future
