Personal statement- medicine
Compassion lies at the heart of medicine. In the midst of the A&E ward, my time in hospital revealed the healthcare team’s professionalism as they worked together efficiently during ward rounds. It left me inspired. Following this, medicine has appealed to me becoming a route to better the health of others. The opportunity to provide care and to use medical knowledge for patient benefit compels me to become a doctor.
Experiencing how patients were treated showed me how proficient doctors are. Seeing the ability to treat patients with care whilst using their medical knowledge simultaneously simply astounded me. The demands of doctors are numerous however I could not see any signs of distress upon their faces. I learnt that it is this quality gives confidence to

I have taken my interest in sport further by continuing to play tennis on a weekly basis. I volunteered to raise money for a charity called Habitat for Humanity that builds houses for the homeless in other countries. Within a school chemistry competition, I was part of a team to gain first place for producing the purest sample of aspirin. I have also represented my school as an ambassador, helping to promote the school’s science department for which I have grown fond of as science fascinates me. I won the bronze award in maths and competed against other schools in the country helping to develop my numerical skills. Furthermore, I have helped younger children within my school to improve their reading abilities.
My passion for medicine has been reinforced by my personal experiences. I am ready to further my education in pursuit of becoming a doctor. I strive to see what I will learn from my future studies. Ready to face new challenges, I look forward to working in the medical profession with eager anticipation of my future
