My placements made me realise that in order to gain a patients trust a doctor must be able to alleviate fears, make anxious patients feel calm and provide them with clear, honest information in a way that they understood. I enjoy interacting with patients whilst carrying out voluntary duties at RPH. Simply chatting to the patients whilst offering them tea makes them feel at ease. Spending time at a Pharmacy helped me realise the importance of drugs in healthcare and how they are utilised in treating patients. One of the key skills I learnt was the importance of keeping accurate patient records and the detrimental effects if this is not adhered too. The Pharmacist had to work to the highest level of conscientiousness in order to eliminate mistakes. I was able to adapt to this work ethic when helping with accuracy checks. By volunteering at the local charity run Mosque, I often find myself helping committee members organise Arabic classes and fund raising
