Listening is more than just hearing, it requires focus and attention to detail. It is absorbing the information as well as interpreting how it is told, this is done by focusing on the details, such as vocabulary, voice, and body language. Essentially, verbal and non-verbal messages. Our listening skills rely on the degree of which we grasp and comprehend these messages. (Skills You Need, n.d.) How this skill can be useful is when instructions are given by your supervisor, if these instructions are not listened to and followed as given, that can lead to mistakes and frustration or irritation. Giving and receiving feedback is a fundamental requirement of a manager or supervisor.
