After about 2 weeks we got our instruments, and started the first day of band during our recess period. Thus began the years dedicated to the astoundingly difficult flute. About halfway through 5th grade my Dad decided to buy a flute off ebay and fix it up himself. It proved a problem when I reached 6th grade and any note I tried to play sounded the same, so I ended up not playing. Vince Lombardi addressed football as, ¨Football is like life - it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and respect of authority¨. Throughout my lifetime I have had many experiences, some great, others, not so great, but no matter what, I have put full effort and commitment with everything that I have done. The most valued experience that I have is football. Football has shaped me into the person I am today and has laid a foundation in which I could build my values on. I started playing the game since I was in grade school. Till this day, the excitement of strapping on my pads and hearing the crack of the helmets has not changed one bit.…

My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…

It does bother that some people don’t like sports and especially when it’s about football. Football requires a lot of attitude, discipline and the right state of mind, not everybody can go through it, it’s tough, it is tiring, but at the end it still gives me feelings that I can’t express, the victory, knowing that those practices under the hot sun were worth it, you don’t play for yourself, you play for your brothers on that field, hot or cold, raining or snowing, you give your best for them because they try the best for you.…
