Throughout my short life journey, soccer has been an enormous part of my life. I began playing soccer at a young age; this is the point in my life when I fell in love with the sport. As I grew older soccer became less of a hobby, and more of a lifestyle. Today, I am literate in the sport of soccer, because I have proficient skills, and a firm understanding of the game. I consider myself very soccer savvy, however the most important literacies I have acquired from soccer were the life skills of hard work, dedication and perseverance.…

My favorite sport is Soccer, I have played it since I turned two. I got inspired to play it because of my brother. At that age you really do look up to anyone older than you and an example of that is my brother. I thought he was so cool able to run down the field with the ball gliding next to his foot…

Day and night, I devoted my free time to get better at soccer. Thus, improving my kicks, accuracy, speed, stamina, and strength. I was never capable to kick a ball further than 20 feet so I created strategies to help me build strength on my legs. For example, in my back yard I would stand a few feet away from the brick, aim to a certain brick I’d like to kick the ball to, if I hit the brick I then would step a few steps back and repeat. I practiced for about 6 months straight after the season was over; I was determined to make it to varsity my junior year.…

I love the sport of football and I always will. There is no doubt in my mind that this sport is the best one in the world. There are people though that do think otherwise. It does bother that some people don’t like sports and especially when it’s about football. Football requires a lot of attitude, discipline and the right state of mind, not everybody can go through it, it’s tough, it is tiring, but at the end it still gives me feelings that I can’t express, the victory, knowing that those practices under the hot sun were worth it, you don’t play for yourself, you play for your brothers on that field, hot or cold, raining or snowing, you give your best for them because they try the best for you.…

It becomes so concentrated, I sometimes think I can reach into myself, physically grab it, extract it and throw it away so that it sails through the air and disappears into the horizon. My school has a 1 million dollar soccer field called Wesson. It’s located behind the football stadium, which is located on the outskirts of campus. The soccer teams take pride in the field, as they often chant “We don’t lose on Wesson!”, even though spectators usually forgo the soccer game in favor of the football game.…

I have been playing soccer for an organization called AYSO, since the age of five. This organization is overseen at Liberty Park, which previously was a burn dump before the conversion to a park.
