Personal Narrative: The Day I Spent Water Skiing

Decent Essays
About two summers ago I went water skiing. I went water skiing on the lake and people was driving so crazy that I flew up in the air. I panicked when I hit the water but it was actually fun though. My Uncle,Aunt,Mom,brother, cousins, and my grandparents was there. My pawpaw was chopping food while it happened. We were traveling to the waterfall when it happened. It happened because the people that was driving was driving really crazy and another boat interfered with us. I'm glad a cop wasn't patrolling when it happened. If there was a cop patrolling we would be panicking. I was qualifying for a skiing contest. I didn't really want to do the skiing contest because I hurt myself.

One of the most common mistakes people make is that they define talent and skill synonymously. However, they are two completely different things. Talent you have naturally, you don’t have to work at it. Skill is ability developed from hours and hours of practice at your craft. My best talent is by far my ability to succeed in school, and my natural affinity for STEM topics.…

Water polo is not easy for me, but that does not stop me from loving it. I started playing water polo in 9th grade, and from the moment I threw the ball I knew I had to play the sport. One of the toughest skills for me in water polo is ironically also one of the simplest: releasing for the ball. Releasing for the ball basically just means getting open for someone else to pass to you, but whenever there is someone guarding me, I panic. One day at practice my coach’s patience was waning thin.…

Over spring break I travelled to Clearwater, Florida. There, my mom, my brother, and I stayed with my grandparents who have a small house in a very friendly neighborhood. During the break, on the third day there, my grandma, and the three of us travelled about two hours away to go to Magic Kingdom in Disney World. We had a lot of fun in Orlando, but we went back to the house the next day. We swam almost every day we were there, in the neighborhood pool.…

In eighth grade I had decided I wanted to swim competitively and run track within the same day. I would run with the track team after school, then go directly to swim practice, with the only rest in between the two was the thirty minute car ride over. As well as the only thing for me to eat was a builder's bar, or whatever my father had in his car. Competing in two sports a day wore me out and took a tool on my body. I was offered to swim with a lower class that was at a later time in the day, by my coach.…

My previous camping trips I have taken in the past years have been memorable and full of hardship. I consider myself a very outgoing and adventurous person, that is why I go on crazy trips. Canoeing is my preferred way of traveling when touring lakes and rivers such as the Boundary waters and the Flambeau river. Major disadvantage of canoes is that they weigh up to 85 pounds. The weight matters being when crossing land to get to the next lake the canoe goes on your shoulders to carry it.…

I've always loved snowboarding through sickness and through health. It’s a stress reliever that helps me cope with my problems. When I was thirteen I had colorful green and white snowboard with abstract designs, when I stood tall it would come up to my chin. I grew attached to it because I've been through so much with the board. You could tell it was starting to wear down due to cracks in the base that looked like large canyons and every year I would take it with me to Vail to use it.…
