In the book “The Other Wes Moore”, the four main concepts that can affect an individual’s life path is environment, personal responsibility, influence, and expectations. Environment and influences are related to each other because different environments have positive and negative influences within them. Personal responsibilities can vary greatly from person to person; some learn responsibility at a young age by doing chores or younger siblings while others never learn to take responsibilities for themselves or their actions. Then, expectations can be what individuals expect from themselves or what others around them expect them to do. However, I believe the four main concepts that shape a person’s direction of life are common sense, new environments,…
A giant. A giant is a mythological beast that is supposed to be larger than any human ever will be. A giant is supposed to be very strong and muscular. A giant is supposed to not be real, but there is. His name is Chris Leprechaun.…
It was a glorious day for Browns fans as they witnessed something that hasn’t occurred since 2007, a victory in Baltimore. It was a rare sighting, but Cleveland pulled off the stunning upset in an overtime thriller. At first, it didn’t look to good for the Browns. After three and outs from both teams, the Ravens struck first.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…
The corner of Broad and Sansom will always have a special place in my heart. In my travels around the city of Philadelphia, it is one of the few places that can smack me in the face with déjà vu. Whenever I walk by and look up at the windows above I still see the “David Wright shot a 72 on Wednesday” sign (this became a battle cry for me whenever the Phillies played the Mets, regardless of whether or not Wright was in the lineup). That was the prime location I was able to snag on October 31, 2008, bright and early at 8:34 a.m. There was an electricity in the air; the championship drought was finally broken and the streets were flooded with red.…
When I knew that I was gonna come to the United States for the very first time, I had a mishmash of emotions. Excitement was of course present, since I've fancied myself living the American dream. You know, the kind of life you see on TV. So, whenever I come back fresh from the States, wind blows like there's no tomorrow. All I say is how great life is in America.…

We all know moving Is very dire .It's always devastating to hear that you're moving to another school and city, its frustrating trying to Fit in with everyone when you are not accustomed when everyone else everyone else has adapted . Imagine hearing your mom say start packing we are moving to another city . The look of anguish on my face told her I wasn’t to happy , but the Most devastating part was leaving my friends that I have come to know , Since kindergarten . The look of sorrow on the faces brought sadness and guilt in Me .…
Hey Professor Simpson, Thank you, I am feeling somewhat better. Slow is not always my favorite pace, however, I am trying to enjoy being at home. I do not consider myself much of a Yankee anymore, I prefer the term "Yankel" someone made this term up, it is a yanked over Yankee. I absolutely love living in Georgia. About eighteen years ago, we tried to move back home to Indiana.…
Imagine driving five people in one car for 14 hours in one day to reach a destination just to leave in four days to another state. This is exactly what our family did this past summer. We left the great state of Texas to meet our aunt, uncle, and cousins in Denver, Colorado. After that, we left Colorado for Wichita, Kansas. Then, finally, back to home sweet home.…
Not everyone can say they carry a map of where they live wherever they go. This is one of the few perks that come with residing in the Mitten State: I can whip out my hand anytime and point to exactly where I’m from. For the past eighteen years, I’ve built a life in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a conservative, affluent community where everything seems perfect. For eighteen years, I’ve covered imperfections, censored thoughts, and allowed my light to be dulled. I may not have lived anywhere else yet, but the real-world is out there waiting -- and I’m ready for it.…
Taking the time to value New York, will allow people either living or visiting to acknowledge the place they are in. New York is a highlight for many people all over the world. It includes people who are searching for adventure, work, or for a new beginning in their life. In the essay, “Here Is New York”, by E.B. White, there are several assimilations about noticing how different some New Yorkers are. White states that although New York has so much to offer, people do not always use every opportunity they get, “The New York of the man or woman who was born here, who takes the city for granted and accepts its size and turbulence as natural and inevitable.”…
Have you ever wondered as a little kid as what an ideal world would look like in America? I always thought that the world would be a perfect utopia, flying cars, no crime and food that you can put in the microwave and it instantly cooks. Growing up and getting older, I soon realized that most adults including me don’t look for this in an ideal world. I have come to realize that in my lifetime none of these things I dreamt of as a kid will happen. There are countless flaws in America that is hindering the perfect world.…
Being in New York City itself was all too surreal, like a dream come true. Buildings raced each other in a quest to touch the soft blue sky and people littered the streets and sidewalks. Life there was upbeat and fast-paced and everyone and everything was moving, but then you crossed into Central Park. Crossing the sidewalk into the large park was like crossing the border into another world.…
