Funk-Ay down to the socks. Big Gigantic is an instrumental livetronica, hip-hop and jazz musical group based out of Boulder, Colorado. Comprised of saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. Big Gigantic and I share a concern for and devotion to our community. We as well share a very free spirited attitude within ourselves. I strive to have the character and the uniqueness in my life that Dominic Lolli and Jeremy Salkin do. Two years ago I participated in the big gigantic food drive in Denver at Food Bank of the Rockies. I spent a day getting to know Dom and Jeremy, while filling food orders as well as driving some crazy forklifts! Not only do we share this experience, we also discussed the passion with both have when …show more content…
At Rowdytown 2014 Dom brought the Eagle Crest High School marching band to play live on stage at Red Rocks! We discussed the pleasure we have when teaching kids new things and how it inspires us, “The smile on their face when they finally master that new song.. that’s the sh*t man no better feeling in the world than that.” The gratitude of knowing you helped a child learn something new is better than anything else. It’s these moments that will help me forward in my succsess getting to talk to the people that inspire me about the things we both love. Speaking of things we love Red Rocks plays a large role in both Big G’s life as well as mine, and though none of us were born on the stage of Red Rocks but we all call it home. Big gigantic has been headlining Red Rocks shows for four years now. The bond that Big Gigantic has with its Colorado family is greater than any other Big Gigantic …show more content…
Getting to tour the world is not something that many people get the chance to do let alone for a career. The uniqueness of getting to consistently travel and experience different cultures is something I strive to do. Yes I am still in high school and there's nothing unique about that lifestyle, nor am I a professional saxophonist…. yet. I want to tie whatever career I wind up in with traveling and experiencing like Big Gigantic does. Not only in the lifestyle itself are they unique but even the music itself is unlike anyone's done before. In an interview for their short movie “Dream Big” Doom says, “Because I was literally the first one doing it, I had no idea what the f**k I was doing,” he admits. “But it can be super flexible.” That's the great things about starting something new and having your own thing, you can have no idea what's going on but there's nobody to tell you that you’re wrong, because they’re

I attended Big Nick & the Gila Monsters at Janey’s Coffee Co. & Bodega, where they performed a blues style of music. Big Nick & the Gila Monsters aren’t a very big band or group that is known worldwide, but they are based out of Phoenix, Arizona and are all very talented individuals. They performed several songs, but never let the audience know what they were playing which was unusual to me because usually they let us know what song they’re playing so we could find out more about it. Although they did not list any titles, as a unit the group performed very well. The group includes Big Nick Riviera who had the blues tone of voice and occasionally accompanied the band with his harmonica, Mike “El Rey” Lewis who played the guitar, Rocky Heyer…

Big Star was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1971 by Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Jody Stephens, and Andy Hummel. The group broke up in 1974, but reorganized with a new line-up nearly 20 years later. In its first era, the band's musical style drew on the vocal harmonies of The Beatles, as well as the swaggering rhythms of The Rolling Stones and the jangling guitars of The Byrds. To the resulting power pop, Big Star added dark, existential themes, and produced a style that foreshadowed the alternative rock of the 1980s and 1990s. Before it broke up, Big Star created a "seminal body of work that never stopped inspiring succeeding generations" in the words of Rolling Stone,[1] as the "quintessential American power pop band" and "one of the most mythic and influential cult acts in all of rock & roll".[2] Big Star's first album—1972's #1 Record—was met by enthusiastic reviews, but ineffective marketing by Stax Records and limited distribution stunted its commercial success.…

I was playing lacrosse on a warm spring day in Glen Ellyn. I could feel my adrenaline spike, accompanied by my heart beating out of my chest. We finally had the ball on our side. The first place team that happened to be our school’s arch nemesis, had selfishly kept the ball to themselves so far. Every second we had possession was precious as we knew the opportunities to score would be few.…

Taylor Swift may be the most liked person amongst her music industry peers, after the singer went up against Apple Music, and walked away victorious. Swift recently penned a letter to Apple Music that "called out" the music streaming company's decision not pay artists, songwriters, and producers during their three-month free trial period for the general public. A day after the singer's open letter made its rounds on the Internet, Apple Music executives suddenly had a change of heart, and they decided to compensate the rightful parties during their free trial. Apple's Tim Cue stated Swift's message was heard loud and clear, "We hear you @TaylorSwift13 and indie artists." Blur's Alex James is also drinking the "Taylor Swift Kool Aid."…

R5 is a family band made up by Riker, Rydel, Rocky, and Ross Lynch along with their close friend Ellington Ratliff. Riker Lynch is known for being a Warbler on the show Glee and being a contestant on the previous season of Dancing with the Stars. Ross is mainly known for playing Austin on the Disney channel show Austin and Ally. I have actually been to one of their live performances at the Granada in Lawrence, KS about three years ago when they weren’t quite as popular and had a great time there. What is so great about their concerts is how much fun they are having while on stage.…
