Decent Essays
The Big Game It was December 7,2015. I was in Des Moines at a championship game. We played 2 games to warm up. Then went to our championship game up against the Waterloo Hoopers. We started it was 10 to 10. Later on in the last period it was 55 to 53. The Hoopers were winning. I had the ball with 55 seconds we did a play but, no one was open for a shot. Then we had 5 seconds. I was open at the three point line my teammates passed the ball,so i banked it in. We won trophies. It was 56 to 55. Then we went to sky zone for a celebracion from my coach. Me and my teammates went to dodgeball on our separate trampoline squares. We could stay for about 3 or 4 hours,so we had to be on separate teams so it’s a fair game of dodgeball. Road Test I had been waiting for this day all my life. After a year of driving with a permit, it was time to take my drivers road test to get my license. I ran to my mother’s room and told her to get ready we had to be at the DMV by 11:30 am. She checked the time and to her surprise it was only 9:00 am, which for me was late. After 10 minutes of annoying her, she crawled out of bed.…

Sometimes in life, the real monsters are not who we think they are. They are not the ones under the bed, or in the closet. They are not the ones that lurk in the dark corners of your room. These monsters wear a mask. The mask is so good in fact, you may know some of these monsters without even realizing it.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

Since, I can remember I have always been the shy, quiet type. I did not speak, unless spoken to, made friends, but never put effort in keeping them, because there was no point in keeping friends when I knew I would have to move the next school year or half way through the year; however, that all changed in the middle of my third grade year. IT happened. The BIG move. Well, not really.…

A Different Role I had always admired the cellos in the music rooms of Trudeau. In Grade 9, I started playing the double bass when I joined the strings program, and while I enjoyed bass, I had always wanted to play the cello. Making the switch was extremely difficult, but I worked hard for it, and now, over a year later, I am able to play decently. One of the first memories I had with cello started in February of 2015.…

I have had a wrench in my hand since before I could walk. One of my favorite childhood is the week before ST.Patrick's day, my teacher had told us to make traps for the Leprechauns. That night I went home, and went straight into the garage. I started pounding nails, and making a wood live trap. My dad came home, went down by my, stuck his hand in the trap and couldn't pull it back out.…

The Real Test In elementary school, it never crossed my mind to compare myself to others. I was one of the kids that was considered “gifted,” who got to occasionally go to the back of the classroom and learn separate, more advanced topics. In other words, life was good. I wasn’t an arrogant kid, but I didn’t constantly have thoughts of feeling stupid.…

As of the 2nd of February, 2018, I have been sober for 35 days. The last time I had any liquor was a mere two days before the new year set in. It was the 29th of December, and I thought not of celebrating the spirit of festivity in silence or by doing something else interesting. Not that I had been riding the wave of some good luck or fortune which made me happy in-itself, rather I was only distraught at how serious my habit of imbibing a useless substance which continually beat me into senselessness was becoming.…
