The Monster Okay, so you know how no one wants to get some holes ripped in their mouth because they can’t eat anything good except for like ice cream? And wisdom teeth in general just suck and fuck up your mouth by coming in like sideways and shit causing infections and overbite like a bulldog or whatever and just altogether wasting all that time and money and effort – not to mention all the endured humiliation from sneers like ‘brace-face’ – which the braces did to make your smile attractive? We have all seen those videos online where kids get taped by their parents saying the stupidest shit while under the influence of those narcotics after surgery.…

“We’re moving!” said my parents, filling me with excitement. My parents have been deciding to move for a while and now the decision is finally settled. I loved Keller, the small area I’ve spent most of my best memories in, but I wanted a change. I saw it as a second chance at life. Our moving day was the week before the last day of school in 6th grade and I was so sad because this was probably the last day I would see my closest friends, but at the same time, I was also joyful and could not wait to move.…

My friends and I were doing our daily run that day just like any other Friday. It was a new trail that we discovered when we took a different turn from our original trail. We wanted to switch things up a bit. When we got tired we took a small break and decided to eat our lunch; we had each packed some carrots, sandwiches, an apple cut into pieces, as well as some crackers and of course our water. When we about to sit down we heard a strange noise come from somewhere in the trees.…

I had no room to move so I said, \"stand back I\'m going to break the door down\" As I did so, I created what I believe is called a backdraft, or a flash up. The road most people in my community go down you shouldn't expect me to writing this. My family doesn't have the most money in the world and we don't have the most opportunities here. My hometown is one of the poorest in the country and many people would expect me to just quit school and get a job to support my family, but that was not the case with me. I pushed myself to achieve something greater than what others around me have done. I didn't want to fall into the stereotype that because I am part Mexican I’m lazy or just another trouble maker because I'm not that!…

The Road to a new Chapter Now that I am soon heading to college in Oregon and leaving almost all of my friends and my family I wonder what new chapter I will soon start with in my life. As my best friend Ziggy and I drove all the way to Oregon we were discussing all the awesome memories we had when we were little and how I once sprayed her with water because she was dressed like a ghost and almost made my heart pop out. Ziggy has been my best friend since we were in preschool. I met Ziggy when she let me sit next to her because all the chairs were taken. As of the 2nd of February, 2018, I have been sober for 35 days. The last time I had any liquor was a mere two days before the new year set in. It was the 29th of December, and I thought not of celebrating the spirit of festivity in silence or by doing something else interesting. Not that I had been riding the wave of some good luck or fortune which made me happy in-itself, rather I was only distraught at how serious my habit of imbibing a useless substance which continually beat me into senselessness was becoming.…
