Personal Narrative: Stay On The Trail

Decent Essays
It was a peaceful Saturday afternoon. Both me and my brother were beyond bored. I recieve a text from my friend Sean asking if we wanted to go out and explore places we haven't been. No doubt both me and my brother said we'll go. We both packed our bags with water, got our bikes, and rode to 7/11 to pick up some food for the road. After we're all there we purchase numerous energy drinks and candy and get back on our bikes. After about 45 minutes of biking we find an entrance to a man-made trail; perfect. We lock our bikes up behind a few trees and proceed to walk along the pathes until we see a sign that says "Stay on the trail". Whenever you see a sign like this, there is probably a good reason for it. We completely disregard the sign

On Friday night, I was relaxing on my couch, when a knock came at the door. I went to get it, and what I saw was inspirational. My brother Thomas, and his friends, Jake and Alex, were at the door step. They told me that they were going on one final shopping trip before spring break ended, and asked me if I wanted to come.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

When I was in the first grade, I was considered a goody two-shoes because I followed all the rules and got good grades, but I never really believed that I deserved the nickname until one day on the playground. My friends and I decided to play Follow the Leader. As we continued to play the game, we started to sing all of the songs we had learned in class. I began to wonder, are we allowed to sing outside during recess?…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

When I was very little, walking up the trail with a pack on my back and the dog at my side, I would reach out and pull leaves from the bushes and trees. I would tear off corners, smooth the edges, and they would be turned into spaceships, flying across a lush alien world. Sometimes the trail, worn down into the ground over time by paws and hooves, would climb its way up onto the crests of ridges and meander across the moist, mossy fringes of muskegs. The rough, black and gnarled spruce branches that grew there were pirate spacecraft, pursued by the sleek birch branches from beyond the muskeg's soggy borders. As imaginary lasers and rockets exploded against the ships' hulls, I would rip off little pieces of bark and let them fall to the forest floor.…

The Hunt I am all warm in my camo attire with my bow hugging the tree behind me. I watch as sky comes to life and leaves crunch as the dew falls on them. My father sitting at my right side, dozing, his head bobbing every once in awhile. I hear the faint noise of something crunching and look above me to see a squirrel perched on a small branch. I smile and nod my head letting out a faint chuckle.…

Piloting the less traveled path empowers me to overcome life’s challenges and achieve my goals. As the first class of a pre-medicine focused middle college, I excelled to be a top student while working as a college-level writing fellow and tutor. During this time, I also worked in my mother’s ice cream shop and in my family’s grocery store to financially support myself. My single mother acted as my role model through proving that anything is possible if you work hard and stay determined. Without my father in my life due to his alcoholism, I learned vicariously through my brother; although, he took a different path than me becoming involved with prescription drugs and later heroin.…

As I crossed the starting line of the track for the seventh time, the timekeeper rang the bell, signaling that it was the final lap of the race. The light drizzle on that humid day, turned into rain and by the last lap had left me drenched, but at that moment, the rain did not bother me, nor did the fact that I could not feel the legs beneath my body. The two mile, eight lap race, would be the single event I ran in Track and Field, but it would redefine me every time I did. Competing in the race itself was already a culmination how far i had come on my journey towards attaining a more healthy lifestyle. Personally, as someone who used to be out of breath by just walking up a flight of steps, even the thought of just running, let alone in…

Shaping My Life I made myself into the person that I am today. I’m kind, caring and a person, which led me to change the way that I think and the atmosphere around me. I’ve always been caring and kind to others, and I’ve always thought about wanting to help people for the rest of my life. I changed that way that I think in several different ways, including changing how shy that I was and how I wasn’t looking people in the eyes when I talked to them. I also changed the way that the atmosphere was around me, by working hard in my life, and figuring out who my real friends were.…
