Personal Narrative: Competing In The Race

As I crossed the starting line of the track for the seventh time, the timekeeper rang the bell, signaling that it was the final lap of the race. The light drizzle on that humid day, turned into rain and by the last lap had left me drenched, but at that moment, the rain did not bother me, nor did the fact that I could not feel the legs beneath my body. The two mile, eight lap race, would be the single event I ran in Track and Field, but it would redefine me every time I did. Competing in the race itself was already a culmination how far i had come on my journey towards attaining a more healthy lifestyle.
