PERSONAL NARRATIVE My personal narrative is about the time my church (Family life Fellowship) took the youth leadership team on a ranch retreat.

Two summers ago I went on a ranch retreat with the leadership team. We went to the youth pastor's wife’s parents two thousand acre ranch outside Bennington Oklahoma. On this ranch they had cattle, swine, horses, and a few chickens. While we were there the other youth and I played Marco Polo in the lake. Roy one of the adults cooked a chicken fajita, it tasted amazing. That night the men slept in the shop while the women slept inside the ranch hands apartment. while people were trying to sleep there were hundreds of june bugs dive bombing us, and there were spiders the size Mason jar lids. many of the horses were work horses for herding the cattle on the ranch. I almost tripped on a cattle guard five times. once we got back to the shop we were not allowed to go swimming in the lake due to how cold it was. So we played with the dogs Happy, Nano, and Skippy. Happy is a small multi breed dog that is brown with black spots and is always jumping around and happy. Nano is a big st. bernard with a shaggy coat and white with brown and black splotches. Skippy is a black and white sheep dog of medium size. All of the dogs licked us to death. that night we all took a shower in the house there were 3 showers in total throughout the house. The dogs were so cute and …show more content…
Everhart (the owner) brought out the pellet guns and put some clay pigeons on a board of plywood and put it 20 yards away and we shot at them with the guns. I shot five for five on all of my tries except for one that I only shot four out of five. I was pretty proud of myself and so was my mom. My friend michel was mad that I beat him because he always keeps talking about how he is going to join the military and be a navel sniper, I thought it was funny. But I’ve been hunting with my dad ever since I was four years old. After lunch the youth pastor had us come into the shop and we did a whole bunch of very frustrating leadership and team building games. The most frustrating game of all was the marble game. In this game we had to match up different lengths and sizes of PVC pipe and had to roll a marble through it without letting it touch the ground. You had to go from point A to point B and drop the marble in a solo cup at the end of the trail. It was very frustrating but it was also very

I hear a shout of joy, my cousins got their third and final can shot down. One after another people raise their hand and claim the place we should have gotten, but I can’t shoot this can down. Deanna decides that she should give it a try, so she rips the gun out of my hand shoves five or six marshmallows into the gun and blows as hard as she can, the mallows fly out in every direction, and unbelievably one of them hits the can, and it falls. A couple days passed and we finally reached Alcove Springs. I looked across the field and saw tall green grass and small hills barely peeking at the top of them. Wildflowers grew everywhere and it looked so pretty blending in with all the nature. The sunset between the small hills was a wonderful sight. We had to find flat land so we could camp there for two nights.…

It was a night like most others in the abandoned ghost town. All I saw was darkness and shadows creeping around every corner. I heard the howls of coyotes and the hooting of owls through the midnight air. The whistling wind rang the rusty, wind chimes dangling from the old run-downed mansion. The sign above read “Muddy Creek Manor”.…

All I wanted to do was enjoy my day on a Freshman retreat to Camp Tekawitha. On a hot day I got back from my retreat around 5:10. Jaclyn and I talked to our coach two days before the retreat and told her that we would be getting back around 5:00 and probably won't be able to make it to practice. We told our coach around 5:00 because our teachers didn't know exactly what time we would be getting back to school. Since practice was over at 5:30, Jaclyn and I thought it wouldn't be necessary to go to practice.…

Throughout the course of my short seventeen years, I have grown and learned many things. I grew up in a small rural town called Elk Creek. There are no strangers in Elk Creek; people sleep with their doors unlocked and their windows open. Everyone who has grown up in a small town can agree that friendship and community become a second nature trait. Although I have copious amounts of love and respect for where I grew up; I believe that I do not belong there.…

Calvary Commission, the seminary that I stayed at, is located a few miles out of town on a land that seems to never end. I could walk miles and still find myself to be on Calvary Commission’s property. The first day I was there, my group and I went on a little hike up to the prayer chapel, which sat on the top of a hill, surrounded by trees, and a bonfire pit stood a few feet away. This was my group’s first real exposure to how great the people at Calvary Commission are.…

Once we got all of our supplies out we set up and began shooting, they had to teach me how to aim in front of my target and the range on how far is too far to even shoot. Then they did a visual lesson on it by actually shooting and hitting the targets and call outs. After a few minutes of this they handed me the gun and told me “ when you're ready say pull and a bird will fly out”. I said “ok” and got in the proper stance and had the gun lowered and said pull. The clay bird shot out of the launcher and went to my left I turned while raising the gun and took aim and fired.…
