It was not what I was expecting. It ain’t big, just a strip of buildings and many wagon trains. Oxen, mules, and horses littered the area, many children running around. Then there was something I ain’t ever seen before. An Indian.…
In 2011 my family and I took a trip out West in an RV. My family consists of my parents, older brother Patrick ( now a sophomore at Madison), younger brother Declan ( now a sophomore at MUHS), and my younger sister Nora ( now in 8th grade). We were all there for this trip just younger. On our trip one of the main attractions we stopped at for a few days was at the Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole Wyoming. The Tetons are a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming.…
It was a beautiful Friday afternoon. The May weather was perfect, with a slight refreshing breeze. Excitement was in the air as we all prepared for the 23 hour drive to Colorado. This was going to be the trip of a life time for our family. This much awaited trip had everyone on the edge of their seats.…
I can’t believe he’s actually gone. My loving, wonderful husband, has just died. He died just one week ago. I was right by his side when he died. He died slowly, and then all at once.…
When i was younger i used to live at Christopher Lake I spent a lot of my childhood there. There's not much i remember from when i was young, But i remember meeting a guy named Drewe when i was 10 or 11, He was tall for his age with short brown hair and Hazel eyes. He sat next to me and he was pretty funny so we quickly became friends, as we got to know each other better we realized we liked pretty much the exact same things and got along very well. We lived fairly close to each other so we spent a lot of time back and forth between houses. He lived close to a lake and i was morso in the forest so we would switch houses every weekend and explore the area around our houses and hunt for rabbits until we had to go home.…
Blue Ridge Journey “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” I asked. My family went to Harrisonburg so we could go camping in a cabin.…
The cold winter was gone and replaced with a green spring. The air was with the smell of the trees in that area. I was 3 years old with that Lightning McQueen sippy cup. My mom came into my room and asks if I want to go to my Granny’s.” Sure “, I say.…
All year the mountains are amazing; I never get bored because every season brings new activities that I love including hiking, biking, rafting, snowshoeing, skiing, horseback riding, rock climbing, and camping. Mountain sports and the raw beauty of the mountains fuel my love for the beautiful place I’ve grown up in. Being with my family or my closest friends in the mountains doing almost any activity out doors would easily describe the most perfect day that I wouldn't trade for anything else. The mountains always manage to keep my attention; in the winter they are white and sparkling, the spring they are green with flowers everywhere, the summer they are leafy and so pleasant, and then when fall arrives and there is every color you can imagine it is so vibrant and mind blowing. No matter the season, regardless of who I’m with, being in the mountains is always the place I love most and will never take for granted…
Have you ever shot a deer or have been hunting? Well I have, my first deer was a huge 9 pointer. It was the best moment of my life. Thanks to my dad, I have a great adventure to tell. Hope you have a little fawn while reading my story.…
We got to see stalagmites, stalactites, flowstones, chandeliers and soda straws. We took lots and lots of pictures because if I didn't slow my family, I feel like they wouldn't have believed me. We spent about half our day there, and then after that she took me to the San Antonio Zoo. That zoo was humongous, way bigger than the one in the valley. I saw monkeys, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, zebras, and even penguins.…

It was a warm fall day. A grey Dodge minivan was driving along the plains of Nebraska. The destination of the vehicle was Denver, Colorado. More specifically they were going to a Denver Broncos football game between the Broncos and the Oakland Raiders. I was in the vehicle with my Mom, Dad, and some family friends whose names were Martin and Michelle.…
To illustrate, my absolute favorite spot in the world is in a very confined part of the wondrous state of Wyoming. This blissful place is called Grayrocks Reservoir in the city of Wheatland. It is about a 3 hour drive from home, but every agonizing hour spent in the steamy, hot car is worth it. Grayrocks appeals to me so much because its always so peaceful. There is an abundant amount of rocky mountain-like hills to hike for comforting sunset adventures, the water is serene enough to take floaties out and sleep right on the ripples, and the reservoir is wide enough for some somewhat ludicrous boating, jetskiing, and tubing trips.…
