Personal Narrative: Muddy Creek Manor

It was a night like most others in the abandoned ghost town. All I saw was darkness and shadows creeping around every corner. I heard the howls of coyotes and the hooting of owls through the midnight air. The whistling wind rang the rusty, wind chimes dangling from the old run-downed mansion. The sign above read “Muddy Creek Manor”.
I was only seventeen years old when I first seen it. Everyone use to go there to hang out. It was a beautiful place. A few years ago, I came back to reminisce but everything has changed. It gave me chills to walk by the mansion. They are vines hanging from the wall. The grass is all grew up, it's as tall as a hay field.
The family that lived there were the Jenkins. The family of five died in the house but no one knows how. A few people have bought the house and they all end up selling in within a month. The last owner has lived there since 1970, he bought it when I was twenty years old. He was a gentle man and lived in the town all his life. When I went back to Muddy Creek I decided I was going to visit the old manor and check if the old man still lived there.

I turned around but no one was there. “ It’s all in mind”, I told myself while continuing to walk toward the mansion. It was almost ten o’clock and it was gloomy outside. I heard something else and immediately got chills down my back. I continue to walk feeling unsure why i am deciding to do this. I get to the gate and start walking up the long, dreadful, stone driveway leading up to the house. All of a sudden I heard a loud shriek. At that point I was almost to the porch. “I’m probably just imagining things”, I said a loud knowing no one heard

Australia seems to be blessed for producing beautiful films about real life situations fraught with meaning and mystery. The movies “Puberty Blues” and “The Year my voice broke” are of no exception. The landscape seems so realistic on the screen, and the sense of Australia's isolation does as well. The subject matter and thematic thrust of Puberty Blues is the girls’ inceptive desperation to hook into the “in-crowd”, but with a strong feminist kick.…

When I was ten years old, I moved to West Texas. I loved swimming in the lakes and ponds around my home before, so I was disappointed when I found out that there was only one body of water near my new home. This “lake” (about the size of a football field) was called Clearwater Lake. It took about an hour’s time to drive there. The first time my family drove over there, I was amazed by how many people there were, all the cars packed liked sardines, the people moving so slowly it was like molasses.…

I was 13 years old, just starting off high school, when I realized what this dark cloud that’s been floating over me for the past couple of months really is. It wouldn’t be until more than a year later until I seek out professional help. It started off innocently enough as just a feeling of constant emptiness at the pit of my stomach. It slowly turned into randoms bouts of extreme rage, where I’d take out my anger physically, not just on the walls and mirrors of my childhood home and not just on my family, but on myself. I couldn’t understand why I felt this way, why I wasn’t “normal”.…

Compare The Haunting Hill House & Rose Red The Haunting of Hill house it to be almost exactly the same as Rose Red. Because the two houses have evil spirits, and they have almost the same experiences in the house. The stories of the people who died in each of them are very different. For example, the history of the two houses is something similar because both are houses where strange things happen, it is also where bad spirits or other people's spirits take over the places to scare the people. One difference between the houses is how people die in The Haunting Hill House and the movie Rose Red not have as much in common because in Hill House…

I was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi on July 16, 1862, as the eldest of eight children. Both of my parents, Jim and Lizzie Wells, were slaves at the time. After Emancipation, my father became a first board member of trustees at Rust College in Holly Springs; Rust College was founded by the Freedman’s Aid. My mother learned basic education there and I attended the school for the rest of my childhood. When I was a teenager, both of my parents and my youngest brother died in a yellow-fever epidemic.…

Baseball Baseball has always been one of my favorite sports, and it will always be the longest sport I’ve played. A total of 9 years in Khoury league and 2 years in high school, so all in all I have been playing this sport almost all my life. I started baseball with the Red Bud T-ball team, the team had a count of 15 people including me and excluding the coaches. Those 15 kids playing on that team became some of my bestest friends and greatest teammates to have. Most of them ended up being with me until we couldn't play khoury league anymore, and then only about 3 or 5 of them played school ball with me.…

I grew up on a large open property somewhat out in the country in Healdsburg. My family and I called it (and still do) “The Ranch”. Though all in separate houses, most of my family lived there; my grandma and grandpa in one house, my aunt’s family in one, and my mom and I in another. We all were very close; my cousin on my aunt’s side was practically a sister, and my aunt and uncle a second set of parents. It was rare for one of us to not be at the others house.…
