Personal Narrative: Off The Baseball Team

I became very embarrassed the moment I was kicked off the baseball team. The moment Presley and I got into it during the summer of 2016 really sticks out to me because it's the reason I moved to Galatia. The summer before my junior year of high school my school got a new superintendent. His name is Mike Gauch. Mike is an alright guy, but he gets what he and his family wants or no one around them is ever happy. Mike and I became good buddies, we spoke all the time and would crack jokes back and forth throughout that summer because I was one of the leaders on his son's summer baseball teams.
Throughout my junior year, we grew closer and were super close until one day. During a big game for the HHS baseball against Benton. I got the take sign right hand grabbing the bill of his cap. But the pitch was beautiful. Best pitch I ever saw in my life. So I tightened my grip on the bat let it rip. I hammered it, but it was a line drive to the shortstop; he caught it. I was out. Coach Thompson, who is kind of like my second father, came storming over from coaching third base into the dugout. He was mad and I was mad. He grabbed me by the arms shaking me telling me I did wrong so I pleaded my case. He kicked me out of the dugout after I back talked. I

I ended up losing my team, my coach, my school, and the Bulldog Pride I wore proudly for sixteen years of my life. Harrisburg was my hometown and will always be my hometown but they turned their backs on me. I will always be grateful to Galatia for opening me with open arms. Remember Bearcats, baseball season is coming up and we are ready for a playoff run. Believe

I made a trip up to the both this weekend to talk with Joey Tilley about comments said by the umpires during the championship game on Sunday the 15th. While I understand they are human and are not going to get every call correct these statements should never be said. The plate umpire approached our dugout after the plate meeting and before the start of the game with a the statement I do not have a high school strike zone, you have two foot arms, swing 36 inch bats and my zone is 6 inches either side of the plate. He said he wanted us to know before the game so we could learn it now rather than figuring it out in the third inning. He said this to everyone in the dugout, all of my players and coaches.…

I knew it was going to be hard to get hits off of him but I knew we could do it. Our leadoff hitter, Tyson Gordon, took two balls and then found a pitch he liked and sent a hard grounder to shortstop, the shortstop took his time and Tyson beat it out! I was up next and the pitcher caught me off guard with a first pitch curveball. I was out front but managed to get it over the third base line.…

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

The game of baseball has always been in my life since I was a child. My love for the game began when I was five years of age signing up for tee ball at the local little league. As a child, I would imagine myself as a professional ballplayer. I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game.…

This was an adjustment for me because it meant saying bye to my father, grandmother, other family members and friends. My mother was the single parent of two growing teenage boys who could eat you out of house and home. We didn’t have the best of everything, but my mother made sure that we had everything that we needed. She ran a tight ship and we were expected to do our share.…

Our pitcher threw the ball and a quick swing from the batter made a pop and sent the ball flying towards center. As the raging ball came towards me I ran forward to it. It was getting closer and closer I jumped closed my glove and with great pride opened it up again. The glove was empty I panicked and turned back the ball was at the warning track the runner was making his way towards 3rd base. I turned and ran as fast as my body could, but I was too slow by the time I picked up the ball the runner was already making his way towards home base.…

If there was one thing I was used to by now, it was that whenever something didn’t go well for me on the baseball field, the future holds green pastures only if I go looking for it. So sure enough, after that loss, I set my eyes ahead to the next season. That final season we had a great start, winning a lot of games, but we ended up barely making the playoff as somewhat of an underdog. We didn’t think about anything that was at stake, we simply played our game all the way to the championship game without a loss in the playoffs. We won the first game of he series and were winning for the majority of the second game.…
